Seacoast Science Center

These are some of the organizations we've partnered with in the past. Community partners may change each year, but you can indicate the types of projects you're most interested in when you submit your application to PrOVES.

Dover Housing Authority – Seymour Osman Community Center

Dover, N.H.

The Community Center in a nonprofit organization that offers numerous educational programs for over 150 local school children.  In the past, PrOVES has helped build their library, construct a map mural on their walls, in addition to many painting projects throughout the facility.  They are always looking for assistance with organizing their gym and preparing their classrooms for the start of the school year. 

Durham Parks and Recreation Department

Durham, N.H.

The Durham Parks and Recreation Department offers a variety of programs and facilities to encourage community members to participate in fun and healthy activities. In past years, PrOVES has helped Wagon Hill Farm by spreading wood chips and making the correct path of travel more visible.

Great Bay Discovery Center

Stratham, N.H.

The Great Bay Discovery Center serves as an educational conservation headquarters for the Great Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve.  PrOVES has been working with the kind folks at the Discovery Center for over nine years!  In the past, participants have worked to repair a wigwam on their Native American site, in addition to cleaning up the Great Bay shorefront and helping with trail and boardwalk maintenance.

Homemakers Health Services

Rochester, N.H.

Homemakers is a charitable healthcare agency that provides a medical and social daycare program for older and disabled community members.  Homemakers hosts their annual Senior Olympics with the help of PrOVES.  Students have assisted staff in running the events, recording times, making awards, and spending time with the “athletes” during the activities. PrOVES has also helped out with their regular program activities, such as crafts, music, and bingo.

Riverside Rest Home

Dover, N.H.

Riverside is 24-hour care, county nursing home facility with over 200 residents.  PrOVES has been working with Riverside for many years, providing meaningful interactions with its residents.  Students have also helped clean up the home’s courtyard, in addition to assisting in social outings with the residents.  Each year in October, we have the pleasure of hosting Riverside for a Halloween Party on campus!

Seacoast Science Center

Rye, N.H.

Located in Odiorne State Park, the Seacoast Science Center is home to miles of walking trails, most of which are handicap accessible.  In the past, PrOVES participants have provided much needed trail maintenance, as well as clearing brush.

Somersworth Early Learning Center

Somersworth, N.H.

The Somersworth Early Learning Center (SELC) is a non-profit organization that has the mission of providing affordable, quality childcare as well as nutritious meals for children up through the age of fifteen years. PrOVES participants will help with painting and small maintenance projects around the buildings to make sure the children are learning in a safe environment. They will also be helping out with food preparation and classroom activities.

Strawbery Banke

Portsmouth, N.H.

Strawbery Banke is a landmark museum in Portsmouth that tells the history of the seacoast area. In the past, PrOVERs helped relocate a large area of vegetation near their welcome center, in addition to assisting the grounds crew with various projects.  PrOVERS have also helped paint some of the historic buildings.

The Gundalow Company

Portsmouth, N.H.

By linking the region’s past with the need to protect it for the future, the non-profit Gundalow Company inspires individuals to take responsibility and become better stewards of our maritime region. Their message is to appreciate the river systems, and to understand the need for protection and action. PrOVES participants have had the exciting chance to help with the construction of a new gundalow boat being built at the Strawbery Banke site.

The Waysmeet Center

Durham, N.H.

The Waysmeet Center, home of Cornucopia Food Pantry, works support and empower the individual and community by creating spaces for communion, service, and social justice. PrOVES participants help run the food pantry, work in the community garden, and other projects to prepare the space for the fall semester.
